Felix’s Rock Choir
Every Monday

£8 per session
Monday Night is ‘choir night’ at the Ladywell Gallery, with Felix’s Rock Choir, where the mantra is:
“Singing is good for the soul!”
Felix’s Rock Choir is an active, gigging local community choir with a difference:
Members do:
- have say in repertoire
- make contributions to arrangements
- get to do a lot of gigs (typically 15-20) every year
- have loads of fun!
Members don’t:
- have to audition (prospective members audition the choir!)
- have to sightread music notation
- have to sing to Karaoke tracks
- have to put up with diva-type lead singers
Location/Times/Costs
Felix’s Rock Choir rehearses at the Ladywell Gallery at Ladywell Tavern, 80 Ladywell Road, London, SE13 7HS Monday nights, 7:30-9:30pm (with a 30min pub break!) during school term time.
We book in 5, 6 or 7 week half terms (subs are £40, £48 or £56 respectively). Prospective members get one free taster session. The first series is charged pro rata from the week after the taster session.
Rehearsals
A typical Monday night starts with simple warm-up exercises, a sing through of a few songs that most members know, a stab at new material and a big finish by 9:30pm with something from the catalogue. When there’s an imminent gig, the choir rehearses the set, and then fine tune any sections that need a little extra focus or revision. There’s a 30min break at 8:15pm, and most of the choir pile into the pub downstairs for a pint and a good old chat.
Repertoire
Felix’s Rock Choir has a PDF songbook (lyrics) of 150+ songs including 60 that have been performed ‘live’ at some point over the last 8-9 years. The choir perform a lot of classic Rock, Pop, Doo Wop and Soul music, featuring songs by The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Paloma Faith, Earth Wind & Fire, Bill Withers, Johnny Cash, The Kinks, Ray Charles, Gladys Knight, Elbow, Marvin Gaye, The Mamas & Papas, Cee Lo Green and the O’Jays to name but a few.
